Hellooo, I’m Jonathan. I’m a designer born, raised, and currently based in Los Angeles, CA.

Before we get into my career stuff, I wanted to first give you a better understanding of who I am as a person.

To the left, you will see me violently attacking my mother and grandmother, really the two pillars of my life. I get almost every part of my personality from one or both of them: My drive, my passion, work ethic, and can barely take credit for my sense of humor.

Even design related skills such as empathy, compassion, really being able to put myself in the position of a user, I owe in no small part to them.

As far as my work goes, I’ve done everything from cleaning bathrooms, retail, warehouse work, to creating wireframes all day as a junior designer, to managing overseas designers and developers as a more senior designer.

I think my love for design can also be attributed to my mother. She was quite an artist, and that may have influenced me at a young age. That and probably Dragon Ball Z. When I was little I used to tape episodes and pause it on a cool frame so I can sit in front of the TV and draw it for hours.

Video games played a big role as well. I spent a lot of time rethinking and redesigning the UI to games even before I knew I could make a career out of it. Teaching myself early versions of Photoshop and Illustrator allowed me to express this interest on a screen for the first time.

The combined interest in art and UI design led me to General Assembly in 2015. I started with the Visual Design program to test the waters in the design field, and it turns out I very much enjoyed it and wanted to progress further into UX design. I applied for the full time UX Course at General Assembly in 2016 where I learned and applied the UX process throughout.

I’ve held various design positions since 2016 and am looking forward to a new opportunity.
